Coming PRIMER and PERMANOVA+ workshops

Those given in bold type are ‘open’ commercial courses for which dates are fixed and places are still available at the time of last update of this Web page. They are designed for all-comers, primarily biologists or environmental scientists, and typically attended by a mix of university and other public sector research staff, post-graduate students, and consultants and applied scientists from the public and private environmental sectors. For further details please contact the local organiser (name and e-mail address given, or, if unsuccessful, contact Cathy Clarke or Marg Moroney at admin@primer-e.com).

2010 workshops

A number of workshops round the world now have confirmed dates in 2010. Not all may be taking registrations yet but it will usually be worth contacting the local organiser to express interest, so that you are sent the booking information as soon as it becomes available.

1-5 March 2010: Plymouth, UK. This is the next in the long-running series of 1-week PRIMER workshops held at the Marine Biological Association's Resource Centre in Plymouth, UK. It will be led by Prof Bob Clarke (of PRIMER-E, PML and MBA), assisted by Ray Gorley (PRIMER-E) and with probable guest lectures by Dr Paul Somerfield (PML). Contact Cathy or Marg at admin@primer-e.com to be sent information and a booking form.

12-16 April 2010: Auckland, New Zealand. This is a 1-week PERMANOVA+ (only) workshop held at the Massey Institute for Information and Mathematical Sciences, Albany Campus, Auckland. It will be led by Prof Marti Anderson (Professor of Statistics, Massey University). This course is primarily intended for participants who have previously attended a PRIMER course or are otherwise experienced with PRIMER and/or multivariate statistics, and now wish to take the step into more complex experimental designs and regression techniques for multivariate response data. A website with workshop information, registration form, detailed programme and software information sheet is (or will shortly be) located at http://iims.massey.ac.nz/workshop/2010/primer/index.html. The local organiser is Michelle Campbell, who may be contacted for any further queries at m.l.campbell@massey.ac.nz.

**ALREADY BOOKING**19-23 April 2010: St Andrews NB, Canada. The latest in the (up to now, biennial) series of 1-week PRIMER courses held at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre, St Andrews, will take place on April 19-23, led by Prof Bob Clarke (PRIMER-E and PML). 21-25 June 2010: Plymouth, UK. This is a 1-week PERMANOVA+ (only) workshop held at the Marine Biological Association's Resource Centre, Plymouth, UK, and led by Prof Marti Anderson (Professor of Statistics, Massey University). Course information and booking forms are not yet available but you may wish to contact Cathy or Marg at admin@primer-e.com to express interest, and ensure that you are contacted as soon as registration opens. This course will be largely restricted to those who have previously attended a PRIMER course, and now wish to take the step into more complex experimental designs and regression techniques for multivariate response data.

Any organisation or individual interested in hosting a future PRIMER and/or PERMANOVA+ course in their part of the world, on a fully commercial basis, should contact us at at admin@primer-e.com. The lecturers primarily leading these courses (Dr Paul Somerfield, Professor Marti Anderson or Professor Bob Clarke) have less capacity to mount such courses as in some past years, but all invitations are welcome and will be considered - and scheduled where likely to be financially and administratively viable.
